Today he leads Echo Health Ventures’ efforts to identify, invest in and grow innovative companies that enable and deliver a transformed experience to health care consumers nationwide.

Echo manages a deeply integrated corporate venture capital platform for dynamic and innovative BlueCross BlueShield plans that comprise the Echo Innovation Alliance. Under the leadership of Coppedge and his team, these like-minded Blues plans engage deeply with each other and Echo’s portfolio companies to advance their strategies by accelerating and expanding the adoption of innovation solutions and bringing them more quickly to national scale. Among his priorities is developing evidence to ensure private capital generates measurable improvements in health care outcomes as well as delivering competitive returns.

Under Coppedge’s leadership, Echo Health Ventures launched its Impact Program in 2024, a deliberate approach to delivering value in the future of health care through four measurable goals – affordability, experience and access, quality and outcomes, and growth and competitiveness – that address the health care industry’s most pressing challenges.

Before founding Echo, Coppedge was President of Cambia Health Solutions’ diversified business unit (Direct Health Solutions) where he oversaw Cambia’s wholly owned operating companies and its venture and private equity investing activities. Under his leadership, Cambia invested in nearly 20 companies.

Before Cambia, Coppedge was a Partner at Capitol Health Partners, a Washington, D.C., and New York City-based venture capital firm specializing in early-stage health services and health care information technology in the U.S. and Western Europe.
