Echo Health Ventures announces two strategic advisors and a key promotion


Echo Health Ventures is thrilled to announce the addition of two advisors to our team: Lisa Bielamowicz, MD, and Kody Kinsley. Their expertise in health policy, innovation, and strategy will strengthen Echo’s ability to support our portfolio companies and Alliance stakeholders. We look forward to working with them to advance our mission to drive systemic transformation in health care and bring innovations to scale nationally.

In other staffing news, Echo is happy to announce that Troy Arnold, Managing Principal on the Echo Health Advisors team, has been promoted to Partner of Echo Health Advisors. Troy, who joined Echo in 2017, will continue to bring together our plan and portfolio stakeholders to achieve health care impact.

More about our three new roles:

Dr. Lisa Bielamowicz, Advisor

Dr. Bielamowicz is a nationally recognized health care strategist, physician leader, and co-founder and former president of Gist Healthcare. She joined Echo Health Ventures as an advisor in 2024, bringing a deep understanding of health care markets and provider dynamics. Dr. Bielamowicz has more than two decades of experience working with leading health systems, payers, and innovators to navigate the evolving health care landscape.

Before founding Gist, Dr. Bielamowicz served as chief medical officer and senior vice president at the Advisory Board, where she led strategy research and authored dozens of publications focused on health system dynamics, physician strategy, consumer engagement, and business model innovation. She has advised hundreds of executive teams and boards of directors and was a featured speaker at Echo’s 2024 Annual Summit, where she analyzed shifting trends and dynamics within health systems.

Dr. Bielamowicz’s expertise in care model transformation and health care consumer trends will be instrumental in shaping Echo’s portfolio growth and approach to strategic engagement. A trained physician, she completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Rice University and earned her MD with highest honors from Baylor College of Medicine.

Kody Kinsley, Advisor

Kinsley is a Senior Advisor at Milken Institute. He most recently served as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, where he led one of the nation’s largest health and human services agencies. Appointed in 2022 by then-Gov. Roy Cooper and unanimously confirmed by the North Carolina Senate, Sec. Kinsley oversaw several transformative initiatives, including Medicaid expansion to 600,000 new enrollees, a $1 billion investment in behavioral health services, and $4 billion in medical debt relief for North Carolinians.

Sec. Kinsley’s career spans the public and private sectors. He previously served in a presidentially appointed role at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, acting as both COO and CFO of the agency. He held positions at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and a behavioral health care service provider in Western North Carolina. He was also the first openly gay cabinet secretary in North Carolina’s history.

Sec. Kinsley’s experience spearheading health policy and innovation initiatives will be valuable to Echo’s work driving meaningful impact on health care access, affordability, and outcomes with our Alliance and portfolio stakeholders. Originally from Wilmington, NC, Kinsley holds a bachelor’s degree from Brevard College and a Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.

Troy Arnold, Partner, Echo Health Advisors

Before joining Echo, Troy spent 14 years at Blue Cross NC working in a range of strategic development and provider partnership roles. Troy spent several years in the Strategy and Business Development group where he helped develop a new product line for Blue Cross NC’s individual business and created several value partnerships with Blue Cross NC’s large health systems focused on improving care and affordability. In addition, he also spent over five years in the company’s Health Delivery Redesign and the Provider Network groups helping to drive Blue Cross NC’s value-based partnership strategy across the state.

Troy earned a Master of Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota. He is based out of Echo’s Durham, North Carolina office.
